I'm going to be honest: as much as I'd like to pretend that I float through the ick and stick of summertime looking like a golden goddess completely unfazed by the boiling sun and 100% humidity, that's basically the opposite of the truth. In fact, more often than not I look like I stuck my finger in an electric socket after finishing a marathon run.
It's not pretty.
I realized today, though, that there was one crucial summertime (or quite frankly, all-the-time) must have that I forgot to include in my most recent vlog.
Baby Powder.
For the past few years, I've been using powder out of an ancient bottle I found under my the sink in my parents' house that I'm pretty sure has been there since I was a baby, but it's still my lifesaver regardless. I recently bought a purse-sized bottle of baby powder for less than $1 at my local drugstore and carry it with me everywhere and use it for everything.
My favorite, couldn't-survive-without-it use for baby powder is absolutely using it as a dry shampoo. My bangs in particular get icky and, let's face it: greasy (ICK.) during the summertime, and all it takes is a quick shake of baby powder in my hands, run them through my bangs, and they're as fresh and clean as if I just washed my hair. It works for the rest of my hair too, but I most often find myself using the powder to freshen my bangs.
What else have I used baby powder for in the past?
-As a mattifyer for my face/powder in a pinch when my face needs a touch up. I can get a little shiny sometimes, but a quick powdering takes care of that.
-To set lotion or deodorant and increase their staying power.
-To sop up a grease or oil stain on clothing while I'm out and spill something on myself. Just pour a little on the spot, dab it on, wipe off, repeat until stain is sopped up!
-To untangle chain necklaces. Just pour a bit on a necklace to loosen up knots and untangle.
-After shaving to keep my skin smooth + prevent stubble.
Long story short: baby powder is kind of my savior.
Do you use baby powder for anything? I'd love to hear your experiences with it or if you've found any more uses for it!
(fyi: not a sponsored post, just sharing a favorite tip!)

because I am a known worrier and even if I don't know the person well I worry. Please please don't use talcum powder. it has some pretty serious scary stuff associated with it. There a lots of alternatives that are safe. **worries**
ReplyDeletei had no idea about the necklaces. THANK YOU! i need that!
ReplyDeleteI never knew there were so many uses for powder! We usually put it in our tennis shoes to absorb moisture.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have used it to set lipstick in place. Lipliner, lipstick, blot the powder, and then reapply lipstick. It will stay forever!
Wow, never thought to use it on oil stains, I'm wishing I had some when I got a plate full of oil dumped on my head by a clumsy waitress recently!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to untangle jewelry, that's an awesome tip!!! Thanks!!
I've used it instead of dry shampoo in a pinch. Put some on your hands, run them through your hair, and then brush it out.
