real world: real world edition.

Tee: ON, Winter 10; Belt: H&M, gift; Skirt: Gap, Summer 10; Sandals: Target, Spring 10

While I'm not exactly old, I'm not exactly super young anymore either. I'd rather save my money to travel and *a-herm* eventually pay off my student loans. If my Saturday night includes less dirty house parties and more bottles of red wine with my girlfriends in our yoga pants? That's fine by me. (Actually, that sounds great. Who wants to join me for a wine party?)

Anyways, right. Back to my point. So, I'm not really that young anymore, but I'm not old... but if you put me in a high school, I may or may not be mistaken for a student. Which was my concern last Friday when I helped my older sister out in her junior & senior English classrooms (See, I totally had a point! Just took a minute or two to get there... :)). The last time I was in a classroom as a teacher was during my internship abroad in London working with behaviorally challenged five-year-olds. So, being worried about dressing like an authority figure was not #1 on my list back then (you get automatic authority-figure status when you're over five feet tall. It's great.)

After chatting with my sister about her normal daily wear (and perusing some of my favorite teacher blogs!) I think I managed to put something together that was still me, but appropriate and authority-figure-ish at the same time. Is this what it's like to be a part of the real world?

Because if the real world means breton stripes and wine parties, I am so totally there. :)

  1. Love this teacher look! ;)

    Wine parties are fabulous!

Paying students loans are not. My husband paid for his 6 years of school (BS + MS) all by himself* which is awesome, but the $60,000 in student loans are KILLER. I could go shopping every month-- if I wasn't paying for his education! ;)

*He had HOPE scholarship for his undergrad and a TA position for his graduate program, but let's face it, those stipends pay for juuuust about nothing.

  3. Breton stripes and wine parties sounds good too me. I haven't been to a house party since I was an undergrad, and that is okay with me.
